I had long awaited this day! This is my Brother in law Billy and his new husband George's wedding.
These two have been together for many years. I had already had my children calling George their uncle, because I would refuse to ever let him leave this family.
We knew they would be together forever. It was just a matter of planning the day.
Unfortunately, the day was picked in a rush. My mother in law, Billy's mother, got devastating news that her cancer had come back and was incurable. We were given 6 months with her, which we unfortunately didn't get as much of as we had hoped.
As a family we decided to plan Billy and George's wedding in just 5 weeks to ensure she would be apart of their day and get to witness. We planned it in MY backyard and I was a Grooms-maid. It was a chaotic few weeks to say the least, but it was all worth it.
I am so thankful for my friend and second shooter, Alexis, for helping me capture this day. I obviously couldn't host, be a grooms-maid, and be able to photograph everything myself. It was my first LGBTQ portraits and I was thrilled to get to experience it with 2 of my favorite people.
Their day came quickly. It was a planning Whirlwind! However it was the most beautiful backyard wedding you would have ever seen. These two had a beautiful day!
My mother-in-law Theresa got to walk Billy down the aisle and give him away. Billy even was gracious enough to give some time from his reception to give her a dance with each of her sons. She had a wonderful, wonderful day.
Unfortunately, we lost her just 5 weeks later. We are so thankful that she got to have this day with her entire family.
It was a beautiful day for all kinds of reasons. The most important one though is that we get to keep George forever now!
